One day trip at Vancouver Zoo

Such a beautiful sunny Sunday, my whole family went to Greater Vancouver Zoo for a trip.

We arrived at the zoo around 11:30am.

We rushed to the Amphitheatre to see the "Radical Raptors" show at 12:00pm.

Right after that bird show, we rushed to the "Lion Feeding". There were so many people sitting before the lion cages waiting for the feeding show. One staff came, the male lion running towards her 'cause he knew that it was his snake time.

Finally, zoo keeper came with his snacks- dozens of fresh beef chops! Unfortunately we were not able to see the tiger feeding, because the tiger was just too lazy that day. The keeper called her loudly trying to wake her up. She didn't show up before we left.

Giraffe Snack time was quite quiet. No shout no waking up call. She was just standing there chewing on some tree leaves. As we were told, giraffe only sleeps about 30 minutes a day. In such a tall body and long neck, I couldn't believe she could hold like that for 23 hours and 30 minutes everyday.

At 3:00pm, under the bright sunshine, lied two hippo sisters by the pond. The zoo keeper used the speaker to call their names for 10 minutes. But nothing happened, they enjoyed that sunny afternoon so much that they barely move an inch. At last, another keeper walked along the fence, approaching where hippo lied. She throw a stick to the side of hippos, trying to get their attention. The keeper even tried throwing two half apples in the pond, wishing any of them could be attracted. But still, they didn't move. Finally, one of the hippos moved her ears and lifted her head slightly. As the crowd cheering for their movement, she ended up lifting her 4000lb body and moved toward the feeding place. Such a wake up call, takes about 25 minutes. We almost gave up.
